Wynter’s Story

A lifelong resident of Hudson County, NJ Wynter attended the OLC in downtown Jersey City. Wynter was a good student that achieved high marks with math being her favorite subject. Wynter gained many friends at OLC due to her outgoing personality, infectious smile and positive energy.

Exhibiting unique athletic talents at an early age, Wynter started training in gymnastics at the age of 3. Wynter eventually became part of the Chelsea Pier’s girl’s competitive gymnastics team and a member of U.S.A Gymnastics Association. Wynter medaled at various meets in the Tri-State area and was loved by her teammates and coaches.

Wynter loved to dance and began studying at the Broadway Dance Center (BDC) and Brickhouse NYC studios. Wynter was a dance of all styles. This included ballet, hip hop, jazz, musical theatre and tap. Wynter received many awards and scholarships individually and collectively with her dance teammates. Some noteworthy performances and awards included her solo dance performances, an opportunity to perform at WeDAy 2019 and receiveing the Choice Artist Award on two separate occasions. Wynter was always excited to attend dance classes and perform with her fellow dance mates.

After being diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma brain cancer, Wynter maintained a positive attitude and battled. Following her May 2021 diagnoses, Wynter demonstrated resilience and strength following her brain surgery and radiation therapy. Wynter rebuilt her physical and mental ability through hard work, physical therapy and a “Never Say Never Attitude”. She continued her gymnastics and dance training and was able to perform with her dance family. She won a gymnastics medal for her “Beyonce Mash Up” floor routine. A shining moment was her last solo performance at Garden of Dreams Talent Show at Radio City Music Hall in April of 2022. This performance occurred while Wynter’s cancer had returned impacting her mobility and balance. Nonetheless she did well, wowing the crowd while receiving a standing ovation. Although Wynter eventually succumbed to health complications due to Grade IV Gliobastoma she remained positive to the end.
